Diet Vs. Exercise – Exercise Will Change Your Eating Habits

Why Even Exercise?

So, as we learned in the last post, when it comes to losing weight, focusing on one’s diet can be more beneficial than focusing on one’s workout.  We also learned that as one loses weight their basal metabolic rate  (i.e., the amount of calories you burn if you were to do nothing all day) decreases.  This means if a person losing weight would like to continue to lose weight they will need to increase their caloric deficiency (i.e., eat even less calories).

This is a pretty disheartening truth…especially for the people that SUPPLEMENT their DIET approach to WEIGHT LOSS WITH EXERCISE…but this is the way to do it – DIET + EXERCISE!

IF YOU’RE SERIOUS ABOUT LOSING WEIGHT, MAINTAINING THAT WEIGHT LOSS, AND BEING HEALTHIER, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR WEIGHT VIA EXERCISE AND CHANGING YOUR EATING HABITS.

So, yeah, an exercise routine only spurs on weight loss, which slows your basal metabolic rate, which in turn means you’ll have to eat even less calories to continuing losing weight…BUT THAT’S NOT EXACTLY HOW THE COOKIE CRUMBLESand if that cookie is my cousin Christy’s homemade chocolate chip cookie you better believe not even a single crumb goes unaccounted for…but that’s another topic for another day.

So, How Does The Cookie Crumble?

Anyone, and I do mean anyone, serious about not only losing weight but living a healthier, more energized, more focused, and happier life NEEDS TO EXERCISE!

Let me repeat that one more time;

ANYONE SERIOUS ABOUT MAINTAINING WEIGHT LOSS AND/OR LIVING A HEALTHIER, MORE ENERGIZED, MORE FOCUSED, AND HAPPIER LIFE NEEDS TO EXERCISE!

Exercise Is Crucial, Period!…I mean exclamation.

In the previous post, Diet Vs. Exercise – What’s Better For Weight Loss, Diet was victorious in the battle for weight loss not because it’s better than exercise but because, for most people, it is easier and less time consuming to do.  But, that being said…

…EXERCISE IS KEY TO MAINTAINING WEIGHT LOSS!

Clinical studies after clinical studies have all shown that maintaining weight loss long term is all about exercising 3-4 times a week and keeping a “clean” diet.

But Wait! There’s More!

Exercise does so much more than just burn calories, tone you up, remove some of love handles, and help maintain weight loss!

From strengthening your bones to improving brain power to strengthening your lungs and heart to improving balance to preventing injuries to….the list goes on and on…EXERCISE IS KEY TO A BETTER, LONGER, AND MORE PRODUCTIVE LIFE!

But wait!  There’s more!

EXERCISE CAN HELP CURB BAD EATING HABITS…MAYBE EVEN CHANGE YOUR EATING HABITS!!!!

Exercise Can Change Your Eating Habits?

This may sound a bit crazy, but it’s ABSOLUTELY TRUE!

I was actually talking to a certain Nannis brother earlier this week about this.  He told me that in his opinion he thought exercising actually made him eat healthier foods…a point I most certainly agree with 100%.

You see, first and foremost, as I have stated a few other times on this site, our body craves what it needs and shies away from what makes us feel or perform less than optimally.

So, for example, when I am pretty much exercising at top form I notice that I crave healthy fats and seem to shy away from items that might make me feel bloated or sluggish…especially if I know I am working out the next day.

Be it unconsciously or consciously, the point is that once working out is a regular part of your life you’ll naturally want to feel 100%.

If working out, especially if working out hard, is part of your daily life, not only will you want to feel 100%  throughout the day but you’ll also want to feel 110% during your workouts as well…AND THIS ALL STARTS WITH HEALTHY EATING HABITS….POOF! EXERCISE = MAGIC!

So, this means that when working out becomes part of your life YOU WILL be much more aware, both consciously and unconsciously, of what you are putting in your mouth and how it is making you feel.

And, if this isn’t the case for you yet, don’t worry because, if you keep on exercising, it will!
