They may be “Gr-r-reat” but they don’t help cut weight.

You might be thinking to yourself right about now, “No cereal will help you lose weight…except maybe Special K.” But my friends, that would be an incorrect train of thought.

You see, once I started the LeanGains eating plan during my original P90X routine I reintroduced Whole Milk and Cereal into my daily, actually to be 100% accurate, nightly diet.

When entering the LeanGains eating plan (while in my weight loss stage of my first round of P90X) I would actually eat about ½ pound of cereal and about 1-1/2 cups of Whole Milk.  The cereals of choice were either Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds, Honey Nut Cheerios, or Chocolate Cheerios.  The Milk of choice was, and still is, Kirkland (Costco’s brand) Whole Milk – accept no imitation or substitutions…if you’re a Milk lover that is.  If you don’t like Whole Milk than good for you!  Seriously, you’re cutting calories by simply not liking Whole Milk, but for me it is Whole Milk or nothing…I seriously love Milk…so much I keep capitalizing Milk!

X-Gains | Whole Milk Lovers

Thanks to my brother for this share…just in time for the post!

Anyways, enough digressing, lets get back on track – losing weight while eating Whole Milk and cereal.

So, as I was saying, while in my weight-loss stage of the LeanGains eating plan I would have a half-pound of either Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds, Cheerios, or Chocolate Cheerios and I was losing weight!

My nightly cereal escapades did not derail my goal.

As a matter of fact, when I started P90X2 and was trying to put on a bit of weight I continued the cereal and Whole Milk consumption…and struggled to gain weight!

And, just to drive an underlying theme home, I was eating the ½ pound of cereal and 1-2 Cups of Whole Milk right before going to bed – right at the end of my 6-hour eating state.

I am calling out this tidbit of information to disprove the popular belief that one should not eat carbs late at night – especially before bed.

Well, I can personally tell you that if you are working out and following the LeanGains eating plan –

You CAN EAT CARBS RIGHT BEFORE BED…

and as a matter of fact your body will be screaming for the carbs.

Why?

Well, that is for the next blog post!

So, once again, lets get back to this post’s main point –

Frosted Flakes can stop the weight loss!

As previously stated, cereals like Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds and Cheerios did not stop the weight loss, but during my Hybrid workouts, while still on the LeanGains eating plans, I switched from Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds to Frosted Flakes and my weight pumped up a few pounds.  This is actually what I wanted – to gain a bit of weight.  I got to 175 lbs. and completely plateaued at that weight.  But, even though I was not gaining any more weight, I did want to lose a bit of weight for the sake of toning up the abs a bit and the only thing that made that happen was cutting the Frosted Flakes consumption…which was not the case with the other cereals.

I LOST 4 LBS. IN 2 WEEKS WHEN I STOPPED EATING FROSTED FLAKES.

Now, I know Frosted Flakes are for “kids” but once you retaste the sugar deliciousness it is hard to put them down….they truly are “Gr-r-r-eat!”…though not so much for losing we-e-e-ight!!!! But, fear not! They are completely okay to rock as a “Frosted” Chain – just blingify the box…I love clever rappers!

Frosted Chain – get it?
