TO SHAKE OR NOT TO SHAKEOLOGY, PART 1 of 3

HOW FAT, SICK AND NEARLY DEAD CHANGED MY LIFE

As you guys may or may not already know, I finally took the plunge last month…and tried Shakeology…and you can see my 30-day results and review here (after you read this post of course).

After nearly 2 years of following Tony Horton’s P90X, X2, and X3 workouts, and seeing Shakeology advertised over hundreds of times (FYI – any and everywhere a Beachbody product is sold a Shakeology ad is soon to follow) I finally decided to find out what all the hype was about…

…BUT THE REASON I DECIDED TO FINALLY TRY SHAKEOLOGY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH BEACHBODY’S ADVERTISMENTS…AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH A MOVIE…say what now?

JOE CROSS MAY HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE

One day, while surfing Netflix, I came across a documentary film titled Fat, Sick And Nearly Dead, a film by Joe Cross.  Intrigued by the title I gave it a go…and as soon as I heard Joe’s Australian accent I was hooked…but more importantly,

BY THE END OF THE FILM I FOUND MYSELF TRULY SCARED…SCARED FOR MYSELF AND THE NUTRITIONAL CONTENT OF MY CURRENT DIET.

In Fat, Sick And Nearly Dead Mr. Joe Cross goes on a 60 day juicing diet – 60 days of only eating/drinking juiced vegetable and fruits for every meal.  One more time, just in case you weren’t paying attention, 60 days of drinking juiced fruits and vegetables only – i.e., NO SOLID FOODS and nothing but fruits and vegetables.  Well, spoiler alert!, in those 60 days Joe Cross ends up losing a ridiculous amount of weight BUT, more importantly…

….in just 60 days Joe Cross ends up changing his physical appearance and well being, his overall health improves and he is able to get of his daily medications, and he ends up changing his entire lifestyle…and this happened not so much due to his weight loss BUT BECAUSE OF HIS CHANGE IN DIET – because he started consuming more fruits and vegetables.

During the movie Joe Cross interviews a number of doctors and dietitians who discuss the pros of eating more vegetables.  And yeah, though I already knew how important vegetables are (I mean we get this message jammed down our throats daily), I had never really taken the time to listen to why they are important…nor had I ever seen the physical changes eating the proper servings of vegetables could have on us…and that is exactly what Fat, Sick And Nearly Dead does – it puts the importance of fruits and vegetables to the test and visually shows us the results…and by the end of the film my life would never be the same.

FAT, SICK AND NEARLY DEAD CHANGED MY LIFESTYLE

As much as starting P90X and finding out about Intermittent Fasting and LeanGains changed my life, so to did watching Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.

At the end of the movie I found myself literally scared…scared about the lack of fruits and especially the lack of vegetables in my diet.

DO WE REALLY KNOW HOW IMPORTANT VEGETABLES ARE?

Yeah, I know we all know how important fruits and vegetables are to our diets…but do we really know…do we…really?

While watching Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead, I personally found out I had really no idea, and though the movie is not presented in a matter to try and scare its audience, it did the trick for me!

After watching the film I started immediately adding vegetables to every meal I was having…and if the meal already had vegetables, I added some more…and I still wasn’t getting anywhere near the recommended serving amount per day.

So, there I was, contemplating what I could do to reach the daily recommendation of at least 3 – 4 cups of different types of vegetables per day when it hit me…Shakeology?!

SHAKEOLOGY – COULD IT BE THE ANSWER?

I had heard the commercials at the end of every P90X, X2, and X3 workout routine for nearly the last 2 years…I knew what Shakeology was about…I knew how healthy it was supposed to be…

…BUT was SHAKEOLOGY really all Beachbody made it out to be…?

A PRETTY INTENSE-NAIL-BITING QUESTION RIGHT?!

Well, you’ll have to STAY TUNED FOR PART 2 of this series to find out if Shakeology lives up to all its hype!
