Missing The Point

So, two of my most recent posts (The Wolverine Diet Challenge, 5,000 Calories Part 1 and Part 2) were devoted to proving to a reader that a regular-old Joe could consume 5,000 calories and keep those calories down within an 8-hour window.  The challenges stemmed from a reader that truly believed Hugh Jackman, or anyone for that matter, could actually eat 5,000 calories while following the 16/8 Diet Plan (i.e., LeanGains).

I mentioned to the reader, as I had mentioned in my post about Hugh Jackman’s diet as he prepared his body for The Wolverine, that eating 5,000 “healthy” calories is a pretty impressive feat but I thought it could be done rather easily via “junk” food.  The reader then responded by telling me it couldn’t be done with any type of food in such a short period of time.  So, the challenge was on.

The Challenge’s True Objective

Though I truly love a good challenge, especially when it comes to food, I did not do the challenge and subject my body to “junk” food for no good reason.

The MAIN POINT I WAS TRYING TO EXPRESS is that if;

  1. 1.    You are at your target weight,
  2. 2.    You are following the LeanGains approach to eating
  3. 3.    You are working out 4-6 days a week for at least an hour a day

THEN IT WILL BE VERY DIFFICULT TO OVER EAT!

How Did These Food Challenges Prove This?

Well, it is quite simple really, just look at the food I ate – a ridiculous amount of Costco Pizza, Chips Ahoy, and Steak ‘n Shake…all “junk” food by many people’s standard.

So, THE POINT IS that if I had to eat that much junk food to reach 5,000 calories which is a caloric daily total only someone trying to gain mass should be eating anyways…

…THEN THE ODDS OF YOU OVER EATING VIA “HEALTHY” FOODS IS ABOUT 0%.

WHICH MEANS…

…*NO CALORIE COUNTING!!!!

*Again, if you are;

1. Maintaining you current weight,

2. Following LeanGains, and

3. Working out 4-6 days a week.

So, What’s Next…?

Well, another challenge of course!

I had a dear friend of mine actually call me out on the “junk” food consumption (which I actually made a point to callout myself in one of the challenge posts).  Not only did he call me out but he also challenged me to eat 5,000 calories of “healthy” food.  So, sometime soon I will get Niña to cook up some homemade “healthy” deliciousness and go to town on 5,000 “healthy” calories during my regularly scheduled fed state -6 hours (from 3pm to 9pm).

So, stay tuned for that but in the meantime think about what “healthy” food really means…

…I mean seriously…what is “healthy” food?
