“Jarvis, boot up and set course to New York.”
“Okay Tony, how fast would you like to get there?”
Okay, “Glass” may not be there quite yet but it sure does seem a lot cooler than Siri….and, let’s face it, glasses are in now-a-days…especially if they bring futuristic comic/sci-fi functionality…Man it is about to get really cool to be a Nerd…again.
So, what is Glass?
Well, thanks to my brother-in-law (who is a proud Android user/lover), I found out that Glass is the real-deal pair of augmented reality glasses Google’s been rumored to be developing. Guess the developing has reached the test group stage and you could be a proud owner of a pair of Glass glasses….if selected, and you have $1,500, and you can get to one of the three distribution locations that is.
Apparently Google is giving, I mean selling, a selected number of Glass glasses to a preselected group of applicants. You have to let Google know what you would do if you had Glass. So, just being able to pay Google for the product they’re selling isn’t enough. I mean, I know that this technology could be put to different levels of usage, but I don’t really get it. Yeah, this will build a ridiculous amount of hype, and, yes, it would be cooler to find out what a jet fighter is using Glass for rather than some well-off high schooler…but is it really? Okay, maybe that’s a bad example. Let’s try again…I mean it would be cooler to find out what a jet fighter is using Glass for rather than a daily blogger…right?

Either way, the day is near when we’ll all be able to rock a pair of Glass-like glasses to help record, track, and gather information at a moments glance in our normal field of vision. Which, I guess, also means the day is near when we’ll need to work out our arms, hands, and fingers that much more.
Soon enough we’ll be able to do everything from our couch – Al Bundy would be very proud!
