HOLIDAY FASTING – INTERMITTENT FASTING BY ANOTHER NAME

IF YOU CAN FAST FOR TURKEY…YOU CAN FAST EVERYDAY

I don’t know how many of us are actually aware of this little tidbit, so I thought I’d share – most of us fast on Thanksgiving!

I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve heard “Yeah, I am skipping lunch today…don’t want to ruin dinner” on Thanksgiving day.  Well, whether or not you’d like to admit it that is a fasting.  Yeah, they may not have skipped breakfast but skipping lunch is a form of fasting!

FASTING TO NOT RUIN DINNER

ONE OF THE BEST REASONS TO FAST

Before I started the LeanGains lifestyle I was always worried about what time I was going to be eating lunch and the amount of food I was going to eat.

Why, you may be asking…?

Well, to be quite honest, I was worried about my lunch ruining dinner.  You see, if I ate too late or over ate I would not feel truly hungry during dinner and this would hinder my dinner experience.  Call me crazy, but there is nothing like eating something you love when you’re truly hungry.  I love every meal I ingest and this is something that was affecting my life…that is, until I started Intermittent Fasting.

INTERMITTENT FASTING

FOOD NEVER TASTED SO GOOD

I don’t really have to explain myself here – the hungrier you are, the better food tastes….we all know that….and that is why so many people fast on Thanksgiving.  And this is what I’d like to bring to everyone’s attention – Turkey Day Fasting could be an Every Day Fasting.

Okay, lets not jump right in, but if you’ve skipped lunch before to better enjoy dinner than you know exactly what I am talking about.  So, even if you don’t jump right in to fasting, you’ve already dipped a toe.  The next step would be to try it once a week.  Chances are that if you’re skipping lunch on Turkey Day you probably also skip lunch on other days…maybe when you’re going to your favorite restaurant for your birthday dinner…or maybe you skip breakfast to make sure you don’t ruin your brunch…AAAAHHHHH!!!!! If that ain’t fasting, I don’t know what is my friend.

CHRISTMAS-DAY BRUNCH

SKIPPING BREAKFAST TO ENJOY BRUNCH (A.K.A. INTERMITTENT FASTING!)

Ahhhh, the brunch meal, now we’re talking!  Let’s take a minute to soak in my revelation….I started this blog post only thinking about the people who skip lunch on holidays to enjoy the feast that is dinner, but what I just thought of is much more inclusive.  I would bet the house that a significantly larger number of people skip breakfast on special-occasion brunch days.

I mean, I think I really just nailed it with this.  For example, my wife’s family loves to do Christmas-day Brunch around 11:30 am every year.  Well, it turns out we really starting eating closer to 12:30 pm.  This means my wife, who, as she says, never “fasts,” fasts for at least 15 hours every Christmas Day.

Now, lets say, for the sake of making my point apply to a greater number of us, that when we do skip breakfast to “not ruin” brunch we actually eat Brunch at 11 am.  If this is the case, which I think is probably more inclusive, than that means that most of us would have fasted from 8 pm the previous night until 11 am that morning.

This is a 15 hour fast!

SO, WHAT’S THE POINT HERE?

Simply put, don’t tell me you can’t fast because you don’t think your body will be able to handle it because chances are my friend, you fast much more often than you think.

And, if you fast on holidays and special occasions, ESPECIALLY if you’re skipping breakfast for a brunch, than bathing in the pool of fasting will be much easier than you think…you’ve already tested the water…now JUMP IN!
